Wow. You know, for a Hearst newspaper comic strip of the 1920’s, George Herriman’s
“Krazy Kat” certainly involves an utterly disproportionate amount of surrealism, Verfremdungseffekt, pastiche, postmodernism, gender performativity, scratchy proto-Burtonesque illustrations, the kind of poetic wordplay and esoteric allusions that would send even Joanna Newsom retreating cluelessly to Wikipedia in shame, and canon slash love triangles.
In short, yes, it is pretty damn spectacularly awesome as far as Hearst newspaper comic strips of the 1920s go, in that respect.
it was lovely meeting you today!
Merry Christmas. Merry everything. Life in general. Whichever you like.
I love you.
